In Season 2, Episode 5 of Civic Discourse, host Tripp Gomez brings panelists Corey, Rev. DeBorah, Tony, and Scott Bennett together for a conversation about media literacy, critical thinking, propaganda, and how people can stay grounded when the news cycle seems to be built to overwhelm and divide.

The panel looks at corporate media, AI-generated content, deepfakes, loaded language and the emotional triggers that can make misinformation so easy to believe. They agree it’s important do do more than just fact check.

Together, they emphasize patience and self-awareness. They agree that no one is immune to propaganda, and critical thinking requires individuals to slow down, check multiple sources and recognize personal bias. .

As Tony puts it, “You can’t know when propaganda is working on you. It’s kind of designed that way.”
